7 Skin Care Products You Didn't Know You Needed In Your Routine

  1. Micellar Water So, what the heck is micellar water anyway? And how should you use it? Well, Micellar water is made up of micelles- tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in soft water. Most people associate cleansing their face by leaning over a sink rinsing soap off their face. But, micellar water is a rinse free cleanser that is attracted to dirt and helps to remove it and other impurities off your skin with out drying it out. Simply soak a cotton ball or pad and wipe all over your face. It looks like water and has the viscosity of water. But, if you rub it between your fingers- you can feel the difference. However it won't remove stubborn foundation or makeup like water proof mascara. So, you'll need to wash your face first then use the micellar water. It's also a great moisturizer. One of my favorites is the Garnier, pictured above.

  1. Toner It can be a bit of a question mark to a lot of people if your'e not sure when or why to use it. But, Your're not alone. Toner should be used after you clean your face. To remove any residual grease or film left on the skin. It can also restore your skins natural PH level which can become unbalanced over time. Try to avoid alcohol based ones though, they can be drying. Water based is best. It leaves a more refreshing feeling on the skin.

3. Serum Serums are usually full of antioxidants and can be a big help when it comes to anti-aging. Look for ones that contain Vitamin C or Vitamin E or retinol. To help in the fight against fine lines and wrinkles. Use after cleansing, but before moisturizing in order to get the full effect.

4. Sleeping Cream Or Mask The creams are primarily intended for overnight hydration. They're excellent for providing deep moisture and nourishing dry skin. Infused with lavender essential oil, hyaluronic and hydroxy acids to help renew skin. Often paired with antioxidants to leave skin fresh and radiant in the morning. They hydrate like a mask, but apply like a cream. They usually don't contain any harsh additives that would irritate the skin overnight. Masks and creams are like apples and oranges though. Masks tend to have more intense hydrators in combination to anti aging ingredients. They're often in a gel like formula to enhance penetration and benefits. A mask would be used once or twice a week and provide extra benefits like skin brightening and anti aging properties.

5. BB Cream Bb cream has so many benefits it's hard not to love it. Infused with antioxidants and skin perfecting ingredients. It can help to renew, brighten, hydrate, protect and even out skin tone. It can be used on it's own or underneath foundation. Some contain a bronzer to give you that extra glow. Perfect for all skin complexions.

6. Eye Cream/Gel Often our eyes will give us away when we have a sleepless night or aging starts to onset. If you just use moisturizer, you might want to take things to the next level and invest in some eye cream, gel or serum. They usually contain caffeine to help minimize puffiness and tighten skin. They also help with dark circles and fine lines. And helps you to look refreshed even if you don't get your 8 hours every night.

7. Sheet Masks If masking is not part of your regimen, get ready for that to change. They're faced shaped sheets soaked in a nutrition packed serum. They can be made of paper, fibers or gel. These have been popular in Asian skin care for awhile now. Now that everyone knows about them, they're obsessed. They help brighten, refresh and hydrate skin like nothing else. There are many different varieties. You can get them infused with aloe, cleansers, and even manuka honey. Those with salicylic and hyaluronic acid help to exfoliate dead skin and plump up fine lines. Just apply to freshly washed skin. Smooth all over face and let it do its magic. Also popular on social media, have fun and test out a couple different ones. That's part of the experience.
